Nothing exciting at all this week, just a few bits and bobs that might interest you.
Clickteam have been releasing BETA tests for build 244 of
MMF2. There have been six releases for this build so far, which fixes
several bugs and adds a few new features to MMF2 (including OR
operators, and other cool features). This has probably been the best
update for MMF2 yet - but remember, it is still in testing stages. Click here for more information on these updates.
Jimmi has again updated his Tormishire website. He
has just announced that the engine for the game is finished and almost
playable, and that short demos may be shipped out soon. I figured
everyone is looking forward to this project, so thought I'd post some
information here!Click here to visit the Tormishire website
SilverNova have a new member called Haita and they have announced a new project in the works, which is called Vault. The screenshots look interesting and the game looks pretty good! Click here to visit SilverNova.
The Clickzine is looking for some previews. If you have a
game that you want us to look at, then send a playable demo to one of
our editors and we'll write a short review/preview. May help hype your
game a bit and also gives us some more content! Click here to visit The Clickzine. |
GOTW #224: A Mini Falafel Adventure |

I'm not very good at predicting results for the GOTW. I again thought it would be a close vote, however A Mini Falafel Adventure pretty much wiped away all of it's competition. Congratulations to Nim on creating a very nice game!

Not many games this week to vote for - I'm not going to bother saying
whether or not I think it will be a close vote, because I'll probably
be wrong anyway. The games up for the award this week are:
cyborg
Random Stuff
Mr Dig
Project Behemoth
The lost Castle |
New Game/Preview: The Underside |

Podunkian has released a preview build of his upcoming game The Underside,
which contains 2-5% of the actual content. It should also be noted that
while the game is created in MMF2, it also features a script-based
engine.
Comments from the Author:The Underside is an
exploration based action platformer in the vein (it's a pun~) of games
like Castlevania, Metroid, and Cave Story. However, unlike most other
games in this genre, the gameplay is driven more by plot than by
free-roaming exploration.

New Game: Mr Dig |

Can you dig it? Alspal has uploaded Mr Dig to the internet - and yes, its very similar to the old classic Dig Dug. Dig that funky groove. Yes.
Comments from the Author:In
Mr Dig, you need do no more than simply dig! Blocks that are touching
each other and are the same colour will disappear in one go, so this is
the best way to get rid of as many blocks as possible. This could mean
that blocks from above will fall on you, so make sure you don't fall
victim to this. Of course, being at such great depths means you could
run low on oxygen, so picking up the green Oxygen tanks is always good.

What one thing would you like to see next from Clickteam?
This is the discussion for this weeks Talking Topic!
It could be anything, really. You might want to see a future
build of MMF2 with an improved platform engine, or maybe a better
graphics editor? A new Vitalize release perhaps? Maybe MMF 3D? Don't
get greedy, only say one idea!
Please submit your opinions in the comments thread. Remember to
keep things clean, and please respect the opinions of other
individuals. And, if you have any ideas for the Talking Topic, feel
free to mail them to me! Happy debating!

New Game: Solar Rescue Denetsu |

A game which was undeservedly overlooked last week (although features in this weeks GOTW) is a new game by Kisguri, called Solar Rescue Denetsu. It's also a rare freeware game by Gamesare, so download it now before they change their minds!
Comments from the Author:This
is a remake of a remake of Lunar Rescue, a game by Taito... Originally
the title was being developed by a group called TSAP media headed by
Dan "PulseCode" Owen, We picked it up from them once he had moved on to
other things.

I
actually forgot to write the weekly click update yesterday, so it is a
day late! Sorry! There is quite a lot to take in this week though..
David Newton has released a tutorial on creating your own
high score table. It is extremely detailed and there are a lot of
features to make your system perfect. The file includes the tutorial
itself, as well as an example file. Click here for more information.
Chris Och has recently left Natomic, saying that he feels it
wasn't moving forward. He is now apart of the Acoders team, and he has
also announced a new project that he is working on. Click here for more information.
Last week, I came across a new extension over at Gamesare. The Background gradient object has now been released, and it has pleased a lot of people over at the Clickteam forums. Click here for more information.
Jimbob posted news at Klik-Me this week, despite making a
post in December which we all thought would be the last. He does say it
is a temporary announcement however - the post just has some other
happenings within the community, which you'll probably want to read. Click here to visit Klik-Me.
DaVince has uploaded an Atari styled platformer, by the name of Blue Dude. He has also released a preview of his upcoming application, Easy Site Editor, which looks useful for website developers. You can see this stuff at the awesome Ectoprods website! Click here for more information. |
